Lotus 72 F1 J.Rindt, RBA F1 Collection 1/43

Lotus 72 is one of the most successful F1 cars of all time. It was champion for two seasons and it won many races. This one is from its first champion winning season, from 1970. That year the Lotus 72 was driven by only F1 champion that took the world title posthumously, by Jochen Rindt. One of the legends of F1, born German that defended the colors of Austria, one of the greatest.

The model itself is interesting. This is RBA model, or somewhere is listed as Altaya, and it is nice. The shape of the model is OK, and the paint is fine. Especially the tires are good if you put in to consideration that this is a low budget model. For a price of 10-20 Euros it is nice one, and you should have it if you like F1 cars. This Lotus 72 from 1970 is also made by PMA Minichamps, and the PMA is much better made, but the price of the Minichamps is much higher, and is between 50-60 Euros. So, it is up to you to decide, but I will always go for this one. That PMA is not that good, and is overpriced because of the World Champions edition which is a rare one in PMA collection. Also the is the Quartzo model of this 1970 Lotus, but I have never seen one in person, so I am not familiar with its quality.

And now let me point out some of the flaws of this model. First of all that you will notice is much higher posture of the model than the actual car. The model is placed on wheels too high and that looks bad. Also metal pad in the cockpit on which the windshield stand are too thick and too visible so it is not something that will amuse you. The last thing that I don’t like is that the rear wind looks thick and bulky. On the other side, the paint is nice, the decals are there, and especially the tobacco insignia is there which is a rarity these days. So in the end I would recommend this one, I am not type of collector that care for limited editions and boxes, so this one is much better deal to me than the PMA model. So… enjoy in images, don’t forget to like, share or recommend this review afterwards.
